The Viper and The Cenation Leader have been on-off rivals for years, feuding for possession of the WWE Championship and, on occasion, teaming up to take down other notable Superstars.
Orton and Cena's battles have been brutal - the grapplers have met inside Hell in a Cell, in a 60-minute Iron Man Match and, in December of last year, a Tables, Ladders and Chairs bout - but at the Royal Rumble, their clash will be gimmick-free.
Reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Orton defended his strap against Cena in a no-frills, singles encounter, with the winner to be decided via pinfall or submission only.
