Royal Rumble 2006 was the night of Rey Mysterio. The Ultimate Underdog entered the match at No. 2 and went the distance to win it

WWE's biggest little man pulled off a shock to win the 2006 Royal Rumble.

Rey Mysterio entered at No 2 and triumphed having lasted a record one hour, two minutes and 12 seconds, lastly eliminating Randy Orton.

Along the way, Mysterio also downed Rob Vam Dam, Psicosis and Simon Dean, with Triple H, the No 1 entrant, helping him dispose of the latter.

Triple H also lasted over an hour - an hour and 15 seconds to be precise - before he was dumped out following a Mysterio 619 to finish in third place.

The seething Game attacked Mysterio and threw him into the ring steps, but the fan favourite regrouped and knocked out Orton to record the unlikeliest of victories at Miami's American Airlines Arena.

Mysterio - the second man to win the Rumble from the No 2 spot, after Vince McMahon in 1999 - dedicated his victory to Eddie Guerrero, who had passed away in November 2005.
