WWE Raw: Rusev stops Roman Reigns earning Universal Title match

Rusev returned to Monday Night Raw to dash Roman Reigns' hopes of earning a Universal Title match at this month's Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
Reigns went one-on-one with Universal Champion Kevin Owens in Baltimore, knowing that if he won he would be added into Owens and Seth Rollins' title tussle on Sunday, September 25.
However, Rusev - who has been off TV recently having gone on honeymoon with wife Lana - distracted Reigns by hopping onto the ring apron, allowing Owens to hit a Pop-Up Powerbomb.
Rusev received a Superman Punch from Reigns initially but punished Reigns after the match by striking him with an axe kick and locking in his Accolade submission move.
The Bulgarian's beef with the former WWE World Champion stretches back to SummerSlam, where he was viciously assaulted by Reigns before their United States Title encounter could begin.
Rusev now seems likely to defend his title against Reigns at Clash of Champions, live on Sky Sports Box Office, with Owens battling Rollins for the Universal crown on the same night.
Rollins interfered in Owens' bout with Reigns on Monday, the Architect rushing to the ring and attacking the champion before Raw General Manager Mick Foley ordered the match to restart.
Owens irked Rollins by winning the Universal Title on the August 29 edition of Raw with help from Triple H, while he also branded his rival a "failure" during a WWE.com interview last week.
