Becky Lynch will make the first defence of her Smackdown Women's Title against Alexa Bliss at WWE No Mercy on October 9.

The Irish wrestler became the blue brand's inaugural Women's Champion at Backlash last Sunday by defeating Bliss, Natalya, Naomi, Nikki Bella and Carmella in a Six-Pack Challenge.

Bliss earned a shot at the Dubliner after beating Natalya, Naomi, Bella and Carmella in a Fatal Five-Way on Tuesday's Smackdown, with WWE later confirming that match would take place at the show's next pay-per-view.

Bliss earns match against Lynch

Lynch and Bliss were formerly part of WWE NXT - Lynch was promoted to the main roster in July 2015, with Bliss then acquired by Smackdown during July's WWE Draft.

"Alexa is small but she's fierce and she is not to be underestimated," Lynch told Michael Cole during a sit-down interview for WWE.com.

"She can do it all - she is a high-flyer, she is a hard-hitter - but I have worked my entire life for this, so I am going to bring more fight than that girl can handle."
