Beth Phoenix is to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Friday, March 31

Beth Phoenix has been announced as the latest entrant into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

The three-time Women's Champion and one-time Divas Champion will be inducted alongside Kurt Angle, The Rock 'n' Roll Express, Teddy Long and Diamond Dallas Page at this year's ceremony on Friday, March 31.

Phoenix is one of only three women, along with Chyna and Kharma, to compete in the Royal Rumble Match, the New-York born star eliminating The Great Khali from the bout in 2010.

The 36-year-old also competed in the first-ever women's Tables Match, teaming with Natalya to defeat Layla and Michelle McCool at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view in 2010.

"When you are in WWE, you dream of that moment when you get to reflect on your career and you get that wonderful individual honour," Phoenix, who retired in 2012, told USA Today.

"I didn't know when - or if - I'd ever experience that feeling. I certainly didn't think I'd have that opportunity this early in my life. It's amazing and very, very humbling.

"To hear [WWE] find my career worthy enough and that I did well enough in the ring to be honoured among the greatest of all time is incredible and the biggest compliment I could ever ask for.

The Glamazon, who debuted on WWE's main roster in 2006 after a stint in developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling, says working with Santino Marella was one of the highlights of her career.

Phoenix and Marella, known collectively as Glamarella, teamed up at SummerSlam in 2008 to defeat Mickie James and Kofi Kingston and claim the Women's and Intercontinental Titles respectively.

"That was probably the most fun I had during my entire run with WWE because of the person that I got to play opposite," said Phoenix, who played the straight role to Marella's comedy.

"I love those times. I look back on them so fondly. They were a huge part of what made me memorable in the WWE."

Phoenix, who has two children with husband and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Edge, has not completely ruled out returning to the ring in the future.

"Never say never," she added.

"If there was an opportunity and it would benefit my family - first and foremost, that's the most important thing to me - sure, why not?

"I have two little girls. Who knows what they want to do in the future? But if they want to be wrestlers someday and I helped forge a path for them be more successful than it was all worth it."

On which of today's female stars she enjoys watching, Phoenix added: "Charlotte gets better and better with each match - she is becoming a legend in the making.

"Nia Jax is an untapped resource - it would be interesting to see her have an opponent in there that can give her a run for her money."
