The Memphis Grizzlies have promoted Tayshaun Prince to vice president of basketball affairs.

The team said the longtime NBA forward's duties will include facilitating communication between the front office, coaching staff and players, and evaluating professional, college and G League talent.

"We are excited to establish Tayshaun as a core member of our front office," executive vice president of basketball operations Zachary Kleiman said.

"His knowledge of the game is exceptional and we are thrilled he will continue providing valuable contributions to the organization on a day-to-day basis."

Prince, 39, joined the Grizzlies' front office in 2017 as a special adviser to then-general manager Chris Wallace.

Wallace was reassigned to a scouting role earlier this month as part of a house cleaning that included the dismissal of head coach J.B. Bickerstaff.

Prince played 14 seasons from 2002-16 with the Detroit Pistons, Grizzlies, Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves.
