The Houston Rockets connected on 26 of their 55 attempts against the Washington Wizards to break the NBA single-game record for made three-pointers.
Eric Gordon kicked off the Rockets' record-breaking long-distance barrage two minutes into the first quarter, connecting from the right wing. It was the first of his four treys in the game (4-of-9).
His team-mates had no problem following his lead. Franchise star James Harden added six of his own from 11 attempts while Chris Paul (5-of-9) and Gerald Green (4-of-7) also joined the three-point party.
The NBA's record of 25 three-pointers in a single game (held by the Cleveland Cavaliers, set in a 135-130 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in March 2017) was equalled when Rockets' rookie Gary Clark hit from downtown with 2:39 left in the game.
With the outcome well in hand and Houston's reserves on the floor, the partisan Toyota Center crowd begged for one more three-ball in the waning moments and Rockets guard Michael Carter-Williams obliged, sinking the record-breaking 26th trey with 31.1 seconds remaining.
