An altercation between Mason Plumlee and Derrick Favors sparked a mass player melee during the Utah Jazz's 114-108 win over the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets center and Jazz forward got in a tangle under the Utah hoop with 2:46 remaining in the first quarter after Plumlee claimed an offensive rebound, attempted a put-back dunk and was fouled by Favors.
Favors then grabbed and yanked Plumlee's right arm and the Denver big man reacted by going nose-to-nose with his opponent and offering some choice words.
Favors shoved Plumlee away and the Nuggets' center's temper boiled over. He rushed back at Favors as players from both teams scrambled to intervene.
The pair were eventually separated and ejected from the game but the tension between the teams didn't end there.
With 2:21 left in the first half, Nuggets center Nikola Jokic caught a stray elbow from Utah forward Jae Crowder after being called for a travel.
The Serbian star immediately squared up to Crowder, barging and bumping chests with the Jazz forward before the pair were separated and order restored.
Although Jokic enjoyed a monster 28-point, 21-rebound outing, the Jazz would have the last laugh in the bad-tempered encounter, winning the game 114-108.
