Surrey Storm will face Hertfordshire Mavericks in the Netball Superleague final after two thrilling semi-final matches.

Defending champions Thunder played their semi-final in front of a record crowd of nearly 4,000 fans at the Manchester Arena but Tracey Neville's battlers were surprisingly edged out 48-41 after a mighty effort from the Mavericks.

Storm, meanwhile, took full advantage of their home advantage as they denied the Yorkshire Jets in their first appearance in the Netball Superleague last four, the hosts prevailing 76-60.

Anna Carter’s Jets, who finished third in the league, can hold their heads up high after a determined performance, particularly in the first half, but ultimately they were no match for second-placed Storm.

The opening half of the game featured end-to-end exchanges with both teams impressive across the court but the Jets were the stronger.

The visitors went into half-time two points ahead needing to consolidate their lead after the break.

It was not to be though - Storm regrouped during half-time and, by the end of the third quarter, it was the home team who led by 11 and they continued to pull away in the final quarter.
