New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees could miss several games after suffering a shoulder injury, according to reports.
The Saints have started the season with two straight losses and could now be forced to cope without Brees, who has undergone an MRI scan amid fears that he injured a rotator cuff.
During Sunday's 26-19 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he completed 24 of 38 passes for 255 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
But Brees sustained a heavy hit to his shoulder during the second quarter and struggled with his deep throws afterwards.
Saints boss Sean Payton could be forced to bring in back-up quarterback Luke McCown for this Sunday's week three trip to Carolina Panthers, live on Sky Sports.
The 36-year-old Brees has not sat out a game due to injury since signing for the Saints before the 2006 season.
Watch the week three game between the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints on Sky Sports 2 at 5.30pm this Sunday.
