Odell Beckham Jr played a starring role as the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins 31-24 to join the tie for first place in the NFC East.

The wide receiver caught seven passes for 166 yards, with two of those going for touchdowns to wipe out Miami's lead in the second half.

Until Beckham stepped up the Giants were in danger of suffering a huge blow in their bid to win the division, but victory lifts them to 6-7 and level with the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles - but they sit third in the division on tie-breakers.

Monday night's game saw a number of lead changes, with neither side ever able to put their stamp on it.

Dolphins running back Lamar Miller scored his side's first two touchdowns to wipe out Giants leads, but Eli Manning made it 17-17 at half-time with a touchdown pass to tight end Will Tye - Manning had earlier connected with Rueben Randle for a six-yard score.

Ryan Tannehill found Kenny Stills for a 47-yard touchdown to restore Miami's advantage midway through the third quarter, but Beckham Jr was determined to get the Giants back into the game and he levelled the scores with yet another sensational catch.

The second-year wide receiver caught a six-yard Manning pass down the sideline and appeared to be out of bounds on first viewing, but Beckham Jr pleaded his case with the officials and the scoring review showed he had somehow managed to tap both feet down before going out of bounds.

With the scores level again, the Dolphins backed the Giants up in their own territory early in the fourth, but a mix-up in coverage allowed Beckham to get free and he reeled in a pass from Manning before running untouched 84 yards for the winning score.

"We got the coverage we wanted," Manning said of the winning pass. "We thought it would be a big play, but I didn't think he would be that open."

Beckham, after a slow start to his sophomore season, now has six successive 100-yard receiving games and five touchdown catches in his last five games.
