The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce to a five-year contract extension.
Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed but local media estimate the deal to be worth $46m over five years.
"Today we reached an agreement with Travis and his representatives on a contract extension," Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said in a statement.
"He's a talented football player that has become an important piece to what we do offensively. Travis is a high-character guy and a leader in our locker room."
Kelce, 26, has played in 33 games for the Chiefs in three NFL seasons, accumulating 139 receptions for 1,737 yards with 10 touchdowns.
After missing the majority of 2013 to injury, Kelce - the 63rd pick in the 2013 draft - has produced two seasons with more than 50 catches.
In 2015, he recorded his highest totals, catching 72 passes for 875 yards and five touchdowns to earn his first Pro Bowl selection.
After beginning the season 1-5, the Chiefs reeled off 10 straight wins to finish 11-5 and earn a Wildcard playoff spot.
Kansas City crushed the Texans 30-0 in Houston before eventually losing 20-27 to the New England Patriots and Kelce says that taste of the postseason has motivated the team to come back even stronger next season.
Kelce said: "When you come together and feel how special it was when we were rolling this year, it makes you want more. It really does, and with all of this comes a lot of responsibility.
"Right now, I'm more motivated than ever to go out there and be a dominant performer for the Chiefs for many years to come."
