The San Francisco 49ers have fired fullback Bruce Miller after he was arrested for assault.
Miller is accused of attacking a 70-year old man and his 29-year old son after being told a local hotel was fully booked.
The elderly man was taken to hospital with broken bones, his son also needed medical attention.
Miller is now facing four charges - felony assault with a deadly weapon, battery and two charges of making criminal threats.
The 49ers, who have been the subject of a lot of attention in recent weeks following Colin Kapernick's refusal to stand for the national anthem, released Miller overnight.
He was entering his sixth season with San Francisco and had made the team's final 53-man roster for their season opener against the LA Rams on Monday night.
