The Sunday of week 11 marked a dark day in the history of NFL placekickers.

A new record was set as 12 extra point kicks were missed across the league, for a number of reasons. Chicago Bears' Connor Barth and New York Giants kicker Robbie Gould could be forgiven for their misses, as windy conditions made it difficult for all players.

However, efforts from Jason Myers of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kai Forbath, who takes the kicks for the Minnesota Vikings, and the Detroit Lions kicker Matt Prater were sent wide irrespective of the weather as all were playing inside domed stadiums!

The NFL moved the extra point attempt back after the 2014 season, from 18 yards to 35. Difficult conditions make it harder for all parts of the special team, including the long snapper and the holder.

Kickers have found themselves under scrutiny this season, as Blair Walsh was released from the Vikings following poor performances, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo revealed he was using a sports psychologist to help deal with the pressure of being a second pick.
