Kicker Matt Prater was the Thanksgiving hero at Ford Field after his 40-yard field goal gave the Detroit Lions victory over the Minnesota Vikings

Detroit Lions kicker Matt Prater has become used to pressure situations this season.

Before this game the 10-year veteran, who rejoined the Lions in 2014 after beginning his career there as an undrafted free agent, had made 16 fourth quarter field goals this season.

The Lions have been the comeback kings this year, and they did it once again on Thanksgiving, beating the Minnesota Vikings 16-13. It is the seventh time in 2016 that Detroit have come out with a win when losing in the fourth quarter.

Prater was called with less than two minutes to go, and from 48 yards the kicker slotted through the uprights to level the score at 13-13. However, he was handed a chance to win the game for his team, when Lions cornerback Darius Slay made a critical interception, handing the home side the ball at the 20-yard line.
