Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco sits out the rest of the game against the Miami Dolphins after linebacker Kiko Alonso hits him hard during their eight round match in the NFL.

Baltimore Ravens may have stormed to a convincing victory over the Miami Dolphins but the game was overshadowed by Joe Flacco being forced off the field with concussion.

The quarterback was knocked out in the final stages of the first half, which the Ravens controlled, by opposition linebacker Kiko Alonso in a collision which saw Flacco's helmet fly off.

Flacco was sliding down a yard short of the first-down marker when Alonso slammed into him with a wild shoulder charge.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident players from both sides engaged in heated altercations before Flacco was led off the field for the concussion protocol before being eventually forced to sit out the rest of the game.

Ravens' players admitted to being angered by the late hit to the head from Alonso, who was penalised for unnecessary roughness.

Flacco's team-mate Brandon Williams said after the match: "(We) definitely took it personally because we feel like that was a cheap shot. We are family. You mess with one of us, you're going to mess with all of us."
