The Seattle Seahawks are giving quarterback Paxton Lynch another chance to make a mark in the NFL.
Lynch signed with the Seahawks on Thursday, with the former first-round pick becoming an option to back up Russell Wilson.
The No 26 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Lynch was cut by the Denver Broncos before the start of the 2018 season.
He started four games in his first two seasons for Denver but was not signed by another team this season after being released.
Lynch was twice beaten out for the Broncos' starting job in training camp and was deemed expendable after the acquisition of Case Keenum last offseason.
Seattle have rarely needed their back-up quarterback to play behind Wilson.
He took every snap of the 2018 season after Seattle traded a late-round draft pick to Green Bay to acquire Brett Hundley, who is an unrestricted free agent.
