Robinson returns to Seattle

Wide receiver Koren Robinson is back for a second spell with Seattle, the team who selected him in the first round of the 2001 draft.

Seahawks also bring in Colbert via a trade with the Denver Broncos

Crippled by injuries, the Seattle Seahawks have bought back Koren Robinson and traded for Keary Colbert to bolster their options at wide receiver. Logan Payne became the latest casualty for the team on Sunday when he injured his knee in the overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Mike Holmgren is already without Nate Burleson and Ben Obomanu for the rest of the season, while Bobby Engram and Deion Branch will not return until October. The Seahawks were so short of options that back-up quarterback Seneca Wallace was set to be used, only to then pull a calf muscle while warming up. With the cupboard almost bare Seattle have decided to sign up free agent Robinson for a second spell with the team.

Former pick

The Seahawks know all about the 28-year-old's talents on the field after selecting him with the ninth pick in the 2001 draft. He made 213 receptions for 3,167 yards and 12 touchdowns over four seasons but was suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Robinson was eventually released in 2005 after being arrested for drink-driving, going on to play for the Minnesota Vikings, where he made the Pro Bowl as a return specialist, and the Green Bay Packers. Seattle have also picked up Colbert from the Denver Broncos, who only signed the receiver in March on a three-year deal, for a fifth-round pick in the 2009 draft.
Buc stops
The NFL has hit Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Elbert Mack for one game for his second flagrant violation of player safety rules this season. The 22-year-old made aggressive helmet-to-helmet contact with Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan during Sunday's week two game. Mack, who received a letter from Ray Anderson, NFL executive vice president of football operations regarding his conduct, will now miss Tampa Bay's game against the Chicago Bears this week.
