Middle linebacker to have surgery on injury suffered against Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks will have to do without Lofa Tatupu for the rest of the season due to a torn left pectoral muscle. The middle linebacker suffered the injury during his team's 27-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at Qwest Field on Sunday. Tatupu, a three-time Pro Bowler, will have surgery to correct the problem. David Hawthorne will take over in the starting line-up. "Unfortunately, Lofa's out for the year," coach Jim Mora said on the Seahawks' website. "He's a huge leader on this football team. "Fortunately, we've got some guys that can step in and play, and we have good leadership on this football team." Seattle were also without Patrick Kerney for the second half against the Cardinals after the defensive end aggravated a groin injury. The home loss to their NFC West rivals dropped the Seahawks to 2-4 for the season, their first under new head coach Mora.
