Two-time Pro Bowler looking for a new team
The New England Patriots have released former Pro Bowl linebacker Adalius Thomas from the final two years of his contract.
Thomas, 32, spent three seasons with the Patriots after joining as a free agent from the Baltimore Ravens, where he played the first seven years of his professional career.
He made 14.5 sacks during his time in New England but fell out of favour with head coach Bill Belichick last December after arriving late for practice during a snowstorm.
The Patriots had paved the way for Thomas' departure by taking University of Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes in the second round of the 2010 draft.
Overhaul at Jags, Bucs
Meanwhile, two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle John Henderson is among five players shown the door by the
Jacksonville Jaguars.
Defensive tackle Montavious Stanley and linebackers Brian Iwuw, Tank Daniels and Clint Ingram are also surplus to requirements.
The
Tampa Bay Buccaneers have continued to reshape their roster with the release of six veterans, including defensive tackle Chris Hovan, offensive lineman Arron Sears and full back BJ Askew.
Guard Shawn Murphy, punter Sam Paulescu and cornerback Stoney Woodson have also been cut.
