Seattle Seahawks offensive co-ordinator Darrell Bevell has expressed his frustration with Percy Harvin following his sudden move to the New York Jets.

The wide-receiver claimed a number of disagreements with the Seahawks coaching staff led to his departure following a disappointing start to the season.

Harvin joined Seattle from the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, but he was limited to only one appearance last season after undergoing surgery on a hip problem.

He played in five games this season but managed only 133 receiving yards before being traded to the Jets.

The 26-year-old averaged just 1.1 yards per catch beyond the line of scrimmage, and he insisted one of the main reasons for his departure was that he was not being targeted on enough deep routes.

Bevell, who also coached Harvin in Minnesota, said: "I was disappointed. I did have a history with him, and I thought it would be a different outcome. But I guess that's just the way it went. It's just disappointing.”

On Harvin’s claims he was not being used enough downfield, Bevell added: "I had many conversations with him about it, just about his role and the things that we would ask him to do. He never articulated that to me.

"I mean, he caught a deep ball in the Washington game, but unfortunately it got called back.

"But the thing was we wanted to make sure he was going to be involved in the game and get the touches. You know, you can just double-team somebody and just take him out of the game.

“He never did. But we've moved on past that. It's left in the past."

Meanwhile, Tennessee Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt has confirmed that rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger will start Sunday's clash against the Houston Texans.

The Titans were expected to restore Jake Locker to the starting role after he missed the last two games with a thumb injury, but Whisenhunt has opted to give sixth-round draft pick Mettenberger his chance.

Charlie Whitehurst had started the last two games in the absence of Locker, whose future with the club now looks uncertain.

The eighth overall pick in the 2011 Draft has missed 17 of the last 39 games due to a succession of injuries, and Whisenhunt appears to have lost patience with Locker's fitness issues.

"We're going with Zach and we're going to stay with Zach," said Whisenhunt, who did not reveal whether Locker or Whitehurst would provide back-up against the Texans.
