Serious knee injury sidelines defensive tackle
The Indianapolis Colts' hopes of defending their Super Bowl title suffered a blow after defensive tackle Anthony McFarland was ruled out for the season with a serious knee injury, according to the Indianapolis Star.
McFarland was a key component of the Colts ability to stop the run last season as evidenced by the play-off victory against the Kansas City Chiefs when he helped limit Larry Johnson to just 32 yards.
Bowe signs with Chiefs
In other news, the Chiefs managed to reach a five-year deal with first-round draft pick Dwayne Bowe, a wide receiver out of LSU. Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
"They drafted him in the first round for a reason," quarterback Brodie Croyle told US media after the deal was done.
"He's a big, physical receiver who makes a lot of plays He's another piece of the puzzle. I can't wait until he gets to practice."
