The Seattle Seahawks will be attempting to extend the NFL’s longest winning streak when they host Carolina Panthers in Sunday’s play-off clash.

The reigning Super Bowl champions endured a stuttering start to the season, but Seattle have since strung together a seven-game run of victories ahead of Carolina’s trip to CenturyLink Field, live on Sky Sports.

Pete Carroll’s side have discovered some defensive solidity at just the right time, allowing just three touchdowns and 39 points during their last six games.

Defensive tackle Jordan Hill has weighed in with a number of sacks, but will be missing for the Seahawks due to a calf injury.

Carolina have a similar selection headache after defensive tackle Star Lotulelei was ruled out after suffering a fractured foot.

Lotulelei's absence is a blow for the Panthers as they have produced more resolute displays in recent weeks, allowing 11.8 points and 238.2 yards per game in their last five

Linebacker Luke Kuechly has played a leading role for Carolina, who conceded just 78 yards in last weekend’s 27-16 win over Arizona Cardinals.

But Kuechly and his teammates must find a way to shackle Seattle duo Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch if they are going to reach their first NFC Championship game since 2005.

Quarterback Wilson has thrown for nine touchdowns with two interceptions over his last seven games, while running back Lynch has contributed eight rushing touchdowns since week 10.

The Panthers will be seeking more inspiration from their own quarterback Cam Newton as he claimed seven touchdowns in his last four and tossed two TDs against Arizona.

Centre Max Unger has made a timely return to fitness for Seattle, who are trying to become the first repeat champions in 10 years.
