Super Bowl champions hand veteran guard contract extension.

Veteran New York Giants guard Rich Seubert has signed a three-year contract extension with the Super Bowl champions. Seubert has been with the Giants since 2001 and his new contract will take him beyond a decade in New York as he has signed until 2012. An unsung hero of their Super Bowl triumph, Seubert played in all 20 of the games last season - through the regular season and the play-offs to their victory over New England in Arizona. Seubert helped Tom Coughlin's side to finish fourth in the NFL in rushing and he is delighted to have been handed a further extension on his contract. "It's awesome," said Seubert. "The Giants have been really good to me over the years and it is just good to know where I am going to be. "It is a dream come true to play your whole career with one team."

Injury trouble

The fact Seubert is back playing at all is a testament to his determination as he suffered a horrific injury in 2003 when he broke three bones in his right leg. The following surgery ruled him out for the rest of the 2003 and the entire 2005 NFL seasons and he only managed four games in 2005 and 14 in 2006 as he slowly made his way back to full fitness. "I played, I broke my leg, I missed a couple years," added Seubert. "Then, I came back and I was a back-up, and last year I finally got back on the field playing again. "You realise how much you do like the game and how much you want to be a part of it."
