Cardinals receiver has sinus fracture
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin suffered a sinus fracture from a fierce hit by New York Jets safety Eric Smith last week - and his return is as-yet unknown.
Smith received a one-game ban and $50,000 fine for his 'violation of player safety rules' after he slammed his helmet into that of Boldin's - resulting in the Cardinals man leaving the field on a stretcher.
Boldin is up and about after confirming he had suffered a sinus fracture, but as he sat out training on Wednesday no possible comeback date was revealed - although he must be considered a major doubt for Sunday's match against the Buffalo Bills.
Boldin insists he will suffer no ill effects from the horrific collision, and when he does return he will play exactly the same.
Return
"That won't change the way I play at all," Boldin said. "As soon as I get back on the field, it'll be the same old me.
"I don't plan on altering the way I play because if I did, I wouldn't be Anquan."
Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said Boldin will be need to undergo further tests before a plan of his return can be made, but the man himself says he may need some sort of procedure done as part of his rehab.
Boldin did not hit out at Smith for his tackle, saying that the incident was just part of playing in the NFL.
"I really don't have a reaction to it," Boldin said. "For me, it's just part of football.
"It was unfortunate situation, but you take your bumps and bruises."
