Owens fits the Bills

Wide receiver Terrell Owens spent just two days as a free agent before signing a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo becomes fourth stop in NFL career of wide receiver

Terrell Owens' time as a free agent following his release by the Dallas Cowboys proved to be brief after he signed for the Buffalo Bills. Just two days after being let go, the wide receiver agreed terms on a one-year deal with the Bills reported to be worth $6.5 million. The 35-year-old caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns last season with the Cowboys. "I'm leaving America's team (for) North America's team," Owens said at a press conference to announcing his signing. Buffalo will be the fourth stop for the often-controversial Owens - a six-time Pro Bowler - during his impressive NFL career.

Receiving threat

His arrival gives Buffalo, who finished last season with a 7-9 record in the AFC East, a second major receiving threat to pair with Lee Evans. The Bills managed just nine touchdowns from their receivers last year. Owens has managed more than that alone in eight of his 13 seasons. He spent the past three seasons with the Cowboys having previously played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Owens stands second on the all-time NFL list of touchdown catches with 139 and has managed over 1,000 yards receiving in nine of the past 11 years. "We are happy to announce that we have signed Terrell Owens to our team," Bills owner Ralph Wilson said. "We all know of his tremendous ability and look forward to what he will bring to our offense. This is a very exciting day for the Buffalo Bills."
