Centre agrees new two-year contract with Pittsburgh

Super Bowl champions Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed a new four-year deal with centre Justin Hartwig. Hartwig, 30, was entering the final year of his current two-year contract and would have become a free agent in March 2010. However, he will now stay with the Steelers until the end of the 2012 season and is delighted to have resolved his future. "It's good to know that you are going to be in a certain place for an extended period of time," Hartwig stated. "I was going into the year thinking I was going to be a free agent again in five months. I am just happy to be part of the organisation." A former Carolina player, Hartwig played all 19 games for Pittsburgh last season, including the Super Bowl in which they defeated the Arizona Cardinals. In committing his future to organisation, Hartwig becomes the tenth Steelers player to pen a new deal during the off-season.
