Dolphins raid Kansas City after Pennington injury

The Miami Dolphins have moved to secure the services of quarterback Tyler Thigpen from the Kansas City Chiefs after losing Chad Pennington to injury. Pennington picked up what looks likely to be a season-ending shoulder complaint during last Sunday's 23-13 defeat against the San Diego Chargers. He was subsequently placed on the injury reserve list on Tuesday. As a result the Dolphins have recruited Thigpen as cover with the Chiefs receiving an undisclosed selection in the 2010 NFL draft in return. A seventh-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2007, Thigpen amassed 16 games in three seasons with the Chiefs, completing 232 of 426 passes for 2,649 yards with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
