NFL: Quarterback Nick Foles guides the Philadelphia Eagles to comeback victory

Philadelphia had Nick Foles to thank for maintaining their winning start to the season, with the Eagles snatching a 30-27 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

The Eagles had been trailing 20-6 in the third quarter and then 27-20 with fewer than four minutes to go.

However Foles connected with Jeremy Maclin with a six-yard touchdown pass to tie the scores before the 25-year-old quarterback set up the position for Cody Parkey to land the match-winning field goal with three seconds left.

It was the first time the Colts had lost back-to-back regular season games since drafting Andrew Luck in 2012, while Philadelphia became the first team ever to start the season 2-0 after trailing by 14 points or more in the second half of each game.

Parkey had also opened the scoring for the Eagles with a 31-yard field goal before the Colts (0-2) took control. Luck threw a one-yard scoring pass to Ahmad Bradshaw while Adam Vinatieri slotted over a 46-yard field goal.

Rushed over

Parkey cut the deficit with a 23-yard field goal, but Luck this time found Jack Doyle from two yards and Vinatieri added a second field goal from 27 yards to move the Colts 20-6 up.

A superb rally from Eagles saw them tie the scores in the third quarter as first LeSean McCoy rushed over from a yard and then Darren Sproles scored on a 19-yard run.

The Colts, though, must have thought they had broken Philadelphia when Luck connected with Bradshaw from seven yards.

However Maclin and then Parkey - both inspired by Foles, who completed 21-of-37 passes for 331 yards - saw the Eagles claim the spoils.

Sproles made 152 yards off seven receptions, while Zach Ertz finished with 86 yards off four passes.
