Olympic 800m champion Pamela Jelimo has been named in the Kenyan team for next month's World Indoor Championships.

The 22-year-old became Kenya's first female Olympic champion in 2008 as well as the first Kenyan to win the Diamond League $1m jackpot.

Since Beijing, the junior and senior African 800m record-holder has struggled for form.

Injuries

Suffering a string of injuries after her Olympic success, Jelimo has struggled to break two minutes since, and last year only managed an eighth and 11th place finish in her two Diamond League races.

Her return to the Kenyan team comes after she finished second at the meeting Pas de Calais in France last week, clocking 1:59;10- her best 800m time since 2008.

Former World Junior Champion Winnie Chebet will also contest the two-lap race as part of a ten-member Kenyan team.

The secretary general of Athletics Kenya, David Okeyo said: "We have a short time to prepare for this event. That is why we monitored their performances in indoor races in Europe and the United States to determine who makes the team."
