Olympics: The swimming pool turned green on Wednesday in Rio

One of the strangest sights at Rio 2016 has been the green water in the swimming pool during Wednesday's events.
It didn't bother Great Britain's Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson who still took the plunge in the 10m synchronised diving despite the mystery of what was beneath them.
Couch and Toulson recorded a personal best of 319.44 points which was good enough to ensure fifth place - China, Malaysia and Canada took gold, silver and bronze, respectively.
Reassuringly, the green water has been tentatively explained as a fault in the quantity of chlorine used to clean the pool - although Olympics officials were hesitant to offer an explanation when the issue was first noticed.
Tom Daley, who won a bronze the previous night in the same pool, tweeted a picture of the green water alongside a caption saying: "Ermmm…what happened?!"
