This year's European Swimming Championships have been switched from Antwerp to Debrecen, and not London as was first reported, due to financial problems.
The event, a key competition in the build-up to this summer's London Olympics, will be held on the same dates as originally planned - May 21-27.
A statement from the Ligue Europeenne de Natation (LEN) - European governing body for aquatic sports - today read: "LEN informs that the 2012 European Swimming Championships that were to take place in Antwerp (Belgium) have been reallocated to the city of Debrecen (Hungary) and will be held on the same dates as previously planned, from May 21st to 27th.
"The event will take place at the Debrecen Swimming Pool Complex, which hosted the European Short Course Swimming Championships in 2007."
The championships were earlier reported to be heading to London, until British Swimming put an end to such speculation.
Their statement read: "British Swimming can confirm that no discussions have taken place with LEN with regard to the staging of the 2012 European Championships following Antwerp's recent withdrawal as host city.
"It is understood that LEN has held discussions with alternative cities with a view to hosting the event originally scheduled for May this year.
"However, British Swimming is planning to discuss with LEN the possibility of hosting future European Championships post-2012."
