British javelin star declared fit enough to compete in London

British javelin hope Goldie Sayers will be fit to compete at the Olympics in London despite picking up an elbow injury. The 30-year-old tore a ligament in her right elbow at the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace just over a week ago. Sayers broke her own British record at the meet, but then picked up her injury with her fourth throw of the competition. There had been fears the problem could prevent her from competing at London 2012, but Sayers has made encouraging progress in her recovery. The injury has "responded very well to treatment" at the Team GB training camp in Portugal and Sayers will now be able to take part in her home Games.
