Day two of the sporting action at London 2012 and the overriding story reverberating around the Olympic Park has been the huge debate over empty seats in venues.
Some of the pictures coming out of the aquatics centre, amongst numerous other venues, have shown shocking blocks of empty seats.
Lord Seb Coe, the London 2012 chairman, announced that students and troops would be given the empty seats at some of the venues yet claimed most venues were full.
Around the Olympic Park itself, fans from across the world discussed their struggles to purchase Olympic tickets, both before the Games began and now during them.
Atmosphere
A family from Germany, who have not been able to get hold of any tickets at all, told Sky Sports: "I think they should just give them away for free now, because if they are sponsors etc. that don't take them they should just been given away, maybe to children. The atmosphere will make a difference if the venues aren't full."
However, the Hobbs family from North London were upbeat and optimistic after watching this morning's swim session, despite the empty seats on show.
The family, who also have tickets for other sports later in the week, which they bought in the first ballot, told Sky Sports: "It was really exciting this morning; the atmosphere was amazing. There were a few empty seats, we did try to move down but we were sent back up again.
"The atmosphere was still amazing though, Adlington did really, really well and it's all exciting for this evening."
There were also fans from Holland who had just been to watch their team in a 3-0 win over Belgium at the Riverbank Arena, saying that the atmosphere was amazing, with the venue "almost full."
Speaking to these fans it seems as though it was pure pot luck with the tickets in the first instance yet now as the Games are underway, there are a substantial amount of fans, both British and from across the world, who are here simply soaking up the atmosphere rather than being inside the venues.
Silver
Meanwhile, back with the sporting action, and British fans got something to really cheer about as Lizzie Armitstead won the silver medal in the cycling road race, making her Team GB's first medallist at London 2012!
Supporters at the Olympic Park were also getting behind GB as Rebecca Adlington qualified for the 400 metres freestyle final in eighth, after winning her heat in 4:05.75. She will now try to defend her gold medal at the aquatics centre, with Armistead's performance sure to spur her on in the pool.
However, there was disappointment too for Team GB, with badminton duo Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier seeing their 2012 medal dreams fade as they fell to a second defeat at Wembley Arena.
And as with any British sporting event, the action would not have been complete without a 'little' scattering from the dark clouds which danced over the stadium and Box Hill for the road race. The heavens may have opened yet the Olympic spirit shone through, with the enthusiasm pulsating through everyone's veins as they entered and left the events.
The rain may have made its entrance today but the good old British spirit was not going anywhere and Team GB have put down the marker with their first medal of the Games. Now the Olympics have really begun!
