Simon Ammann became the first ski jumper to win four individual Olympic titles with victory in the large hill event.
The Swiss managed the longest jumps in both rounds on Saturday to clinch his second gold of the Games following his win on the normal hill.
Ammann's leaps of 144.7m and 138.0m helped him finish with a points total of 283.6 to clinch the double, a feat he also achieved in Salt Lake in 2002.
Poland's Adam Malsyz took the silver on 269.4 while Gergor Schlierenzauer of Austria (262.2) completed the podium.
The Austrian team had launched a protest over Ammann's bindings during the build-up to the event claiming they violated regulations and gave him an unfair edge. However the International Ski Federation threw out their protest.
Ohno's landmark
Speed skater Lee Jung-su also clinched a second gold in the Vancouver Game by winning the final of the men's short track 1,000m.
The South Korean, who had already won the 1,500m event, saw his achievement overshadowed by a historic moment for Apolo Anton Ohno.
The 27-year-old picked up the bronze to take his total medal collection to seven, meaning he overhauls speed skater Bonnie Blair as the most successful American in the history of the Winter Olympics.
Compatriot Shani Davis wasn't able to celebrate in the men's speed skating 1,500m, though, as the red-hot favourite was pipped to the gold by Dutchman Mark Tuitert.
Zhou Yang of China won the women's 1,500m in an Olympic record time from South Korean duo Lee Eun-Byul and Park Seung-Hi.
