DOB: 18/11/87 Events: Badminton (Doubles and Mixed) Medals: World Silver (W/Chris Adcock) Flag: GBR

Last Updated: 01/11/11 9:59am

Having taken the badminton world by storm when she became a World Silver medallist in August, Imogen Bankier is now more focused than ever on her London 2012 dreams.

The Scot started playing badminton at the age of nine, after some competitive games in her family garden.

Bankier, who won her World Silver with Brit Chris Adcock at the London Olympic test event, first represented Scotland in November 2005 and has since got 42 Scottish Senior caps.

The 23-year-old, coached by Pete Jeffrey played for her home team Glasgow and North Stratchclyde. She represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, where she made the quarter-finals in the mixed doubles.

The right-handed player who now lives in Milton Keynes, home of the National Badminton Centre, believes 2012 will be the ideal time to shine in front of a home crowd.

Had she not have been successful as a badminton player, Bankier says she would have probably completed her Law degree.
