The BOA have revealed the ten athletes to represent Team GB in the shooting at the London Olympics.
Richard Faulds to lead side as he is selected for his fifth consecutive Games
On Monday, the British Olympic Association (BOA) announced ten athletes as selected to represent Great Britain in the shooting at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The Team GB athletes selected have won medals at Olympic, World and Commonwealth level, aiming to compete with the best shooters in the world and challenge for Olympic medals this summer.
The team will compete across all three disciplines on the Olympic shooting programme - shotgun, rifle and pistol- at the famous Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.
The squad comprises a superb mixture of youth and experience.
Historic
Leading the side is Richard Faulds, 35, selected for his fifth consecutive Olympic Games. He won Double Trap gold at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, recording Britain's first gold medal in trap shooting since 1968. On his Olympic debut at the age of 19, he also qualified for the final of the 1996 Atlanta Games and has won four World Championships across a career spanning over 20 years.
In the Double Trap event, Faulds is joined by current world number one Peter Wilson, 25, who claimed first place and a new world record at the World Cup in Tucson earlier this year, adding to the World Cup and European Championships titles he won in 2011.
In the women's disciplines, the team is also strong, with 2010 Commonwealth Games double gold medallist, Elena Allen, representing Team GB in the Olympic Skeet class. It was in the same year that she also won the Grand Prix event in Cyprus, and completed an impressive double of winning both the World Cup and European Championships titles in 2005.
Experience
Further experience boosts the GB team in the shape of 31-year-old shooter Jonathan Hammond, who is the current Commonwealth Champion in both the 50m Rifle individual and pairs events, after claiming gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Also selected on Monday were Olympic debutants Jennifer McIntosh, 20, and James Huckle, 21, who are the youngest members of the shooting team.
Andy Hunt, Team GB Chef de Mission, said: "With just 60 days to go until the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, I am delighted to welcome these 10 shooters as officially selected members of Team GB.
"I have every confidence that each member of the team selected today will deliver a very credible, competitive performance at London 2012, and that the experience of competing in the Olympic Games will benefit them greatly in furthering their international careers."
