Great Britain footballer Ifeoma Dieke's Olympic Games have ended in injury heartbreak.
The defender picked up a serious knee injury in Saturday's 3-0 win over Cameroon, a result which saw Team GB qualify for the quarter-finals with one group game to spare.
It is feared the Scot, who plays for Swedish side Vittsjö GIK, has ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament, so Chelsea's Dunia Susi, who has been on standby, will come into the squad provided the IOC and FIFA approve the move.
Manager Hope Powell said: "This is devastating news for Iffy, and for the rest of the team.
"Iffy had settled into the squad so well and had quickly become an integral part of our success so far.
"I am sure she has the character to return to full fitness over time, but it is obviously a very sad moment for her and for Team GB."
GB play their final group game, against the much-fancied Brazil, on Tuesday night. The quarter-finals take place on Friday.
