Briton wins lightweight single sculls

Adam Freeman-Pask claimed gold for Great Britain in the lightweight men's single scull at the Lucerne World Cup on Saturday. Freeman-Pask, who had initially false-started in the final of the non-Olympic class, led from virtually start to finish to beat Austria's Florien Berg in six minutes 53.48 seconds. Kathryn Twyman came fourth in the lightweight women's single scull final. Britain also qualified 10 more crews for Sunday's finals, taking their tally to an impressive 12 from 13 opportunities. The arrival of full Canadian, Australian and New Zealand teams for this regatta after they missed the Belgrade World Cup has intensified the competition. But the men's quadruple scull are the only crew to miss out on sealing a place in the A finals. "Firstly, I'm really pleased to have 13 crews in finals," said GB Rowing Team performance director David Tanner. "We have consistently said that it would get tougher and that's precisely what has happened here".
