On the way to his third Olympic Games, Jamie Dwyer is one of the most experienced players in the Australian squad.
Throughout his childhood, the hockey legend played a wide variety of sports, excelling in hockey and cricket.
When he was 15-years-old, he made the tough decision to stick with hockey rather than cricket - he had always dreamt of winning an Olympic gold medal and wanted to represent his country.
However, it then wasn't until after the Sydney Olympics in 2000 that he was selected in the Australian men's hockey team.
He made his Australian debut in 2001 and never looked back.
Gold
In 2004 at the Athens Olympic Games, Dwyer scored the winning goal in the gold medal match, securing the Kookaburras' first ever Olympic gold medal.
The Australian legend then had to settle for bronze in Beijing four years ago.
His success has been phenomenal though, having been named the world's best hockey player five times, first in 2004 and again in 2007, 2009, 2010 & 2011.
London 2012 will be another opportunity for him to show what he can do on the world stage as he tries to improve on the team's performance from the last time around in Beijing.
