Robertson & Wallwork

DOB: 30/5/77 & 17/1/87 Event: Mixed doubles badminton Medals: 1 silver (Robertson) Flag: GBR

Last Updated: 01/11/11 10:07am

Nathan Robertson is one of only four Britons to win an Olympic badminton medal, but will have a new sidekick in London as he looks to claim an elusive gold.

Robertson claimed the mixed doubles silver with the now retired Gail Emms in Athens, and he will be partnered by Jenny Wallwork in 2012.

Emms and Robertson won gold in both the World Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2006, while Robertson has won four Commonwealth silver medals, including one with new partner Wallwork in Delhi, and three bronzes.

The medal-laden pair of Emms and Robertson made a superb run to the final in Athens but had to settle for silver after losing out in a thrilling match to Chinese stars Zhang Jun and Gao Ling.

Together Emms and Robertson have taken Commonwealth Games gold twice in 2002 and 2006, either side of their Olympic silver in Greece.

The duo also combined again to great effect to land the World Championship gold medal in Madrid in 2006 to further enhance their profile as Britain's greatest mixed doubles badminton players of all time.

Emms retired after Beijing, when the pair came up short in the quarter-finals, and now it will be Robertson and Wallwork hoping to bring home gold for the home fans.

The partnership worked well with the duo winning silver at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, while they've also won back-to-back English National Championships.

Prior to linking up with Robertson, Wallwork won titles in Bulgaria, Scotland and Holland.
