Tony Smith: Hull KR defeat was catalyst for Warrington success

Warrington coach Tony Smith believes the heavy defeat at Hull KR in June was the catalyst for his side’s return to form.
The Wolves are favourites going into the Challenge Cup semi-final against Rovers and could reach their fourth Wembley final in seven years with victory.
And Smith feels the 36-10 defeat at the KC Lightstream Stadium a month ago, where Warrington conceded 30 second-half points without reply, wiped the slate clean and began a change in fortunes.
"They were very comprehensive on the day. They outplayed us well and truly and we felt embarrassed,” said Smith.
"They probably did us a favour. Whether they are able to do us another favour this week is questionable.
"They've suffered with some injuries and they've been a bit up and down in recent times but they put the cleaners through us a few weeks ago and I think it was a bit of a catalyst for our improvement.
"We've been in good form for the last month or so and hopefully we can maintain that.”
Meanwhile, Hull KR go into the match having ended the regular season with four straight defeats after beating Bradford Bulls, Wigan Warriors and Catalan Dragons to reach this stage.
Rovers coach Chris Chester said: "We've just got to be the most desperate team out there. We've got to fight for everything, the first loose ball, the first to a kick and just keep working hard for ourselves.”
