A Leigh team including new signings Rangi Chase, Willie Tonga and Harrison Hansen beat Wigan 26-20 in a pre-season friendly at the Leigh Sports Village.
Wigan, fielding only five members of their Grand Final-losing line-up, took an early 14-0 lead with tries from Josh Charnley and a double from Liam Marshall.
Leigh fought back with touchdowns from Liam Kay, Adam Higson and Sam Hopkins to go 16-14 ahead at the break and although full-back Lewis Tierney put Wigan back in front, a Jamie Acton try midway through the second half saw the Centurions prevail.
In other pre-season friendlies that survived the snow and frost, Huddersfield were 38-6 winners at Hull KR, Widnes drew 18-18 with Halifax and Hull FC won 46-12 at Doncaster.
Meanwhile, Danny McGuire led Leeds Rhinos to a 74-6 win over the United States Hawks in his first match as permanent captain of the Super League champions.
McGuire, who has succeeded Kevin Sinfield, was one of 10 different scorers as the Rhinos cruised to a 13-try victory in their pre-season friendly, which was part of the club's warm-weather training camp in Jacksonville, Florida.
Zak Hardaker, Tom Briscoe and Rob Burrow all scored two tries apiece for Leeds, who led 38-0 at half-time.
