McDermott - No need to panic

Brian McDermott is "100 per cent confident" that Hareqluins will make the play-offs despite a 44-24 loss to St Helens.

Saints boss Potter singles out Cunningham for special praise

Harlequins coach Brian McDermott remains "100 per cent confident" that his side will make the play-offs despite another difficult day against St Helens. The London club conceded 34 unanswered points in the first half against the current league leaders on their way to a 44-24 defeat. The loss is Quins' sixth on the spin but they still remain firmly in the race for a top eight finish. They also have the added advantage of a game in hand over most of their rivals. With Chad Randall and David Howell set to return next week, McDermott remains upbeat ahead of the run-in to the end of the regular season. "I am still 100 per cent confident that we will make the play-offs," McDermott said. "The players are a very strong group and there is no problem with the attitude. "There are plenty of things that we are not doing right but everyone is working hard. "But we will be getting players like Chad Randall and David Howell back next week so there is no need to panic."

Super Saints

While Quins battle it out for a play-off berth Saints find themselves two points clear at the Super League summit after a superb result on their travels. Despite a lengthy injury list they cruised to victory in the capital, Tony Puletua scoring two of their eight tries. Coach Mick Potter singled out Keiron Cunningham after the hooker turned in another impressive display in a game that he could well have missed had he been suspended for tangling with Wakefield's James Stosic last week. "I thought Keiron turned in another really good display today," Potter said. "But then again I cannot remember a time since I came here that he has produced anything other than a quality performance. "It never entered my head that he would be suspended and miss the game today. "Other people kept suggesting it to me but I just thought it was a lot of hype to be honest. It was a nothing incident and we have moved on."
