Wakefield coach Brian Smith has named all three of his new signings for Sunday's final-round trip to Huddersfield.

Lee Smith, Bill Tupou and Scott Moore all come into the side for the encounter, along with Chris Riley who was overlooked in last week's loss to Castleford.

“I am very happy to bring three new faces into the squad this week," said Smith. "It has allowed us to have competition in a few areas going into the qualifiers, especially in the full back position now we have lost Locke.

“Tim Smith and Ali Lauitiiti will miss out after picking up knocks, they now have got two weeks to get as match fit as they possibly can ready for the middle 8s.”

After a lacklustre season Wakefield will finish in last place after the league splits at the end of this weekend's action. The Wildcats have failed to impress throughout the year, but will be looking to gain some vital momentum ahead of the next part of the season.

Meanwhile Huddersfield will be without a host of their stars for the encounter, with Scott Grix, Joe Wardle, Brett Ferres and Kyle Wood all left out after the trip to Perpignan last weekend.

Coming in to replace them are Chris Bailey, Kruise Leeming, Oliver Roberts and Jared Simpson.

Huddersfield after currently in fourth place in the Super League standings, and a win for them would mean a finish in that position, which would ensure one more home game than if they finished fifth.

Though Grix is sitting the game out, the former Wildcats player has offered a word of advice for his team-mates.

“It’s all about how we go and finish," said Grix. "We know Wakefield are a threat and we will be making sure we maintain and keep picking up those points.”

“Wakefield do thrive on being down there, if you’re not on your game then they can pile some points on you.

“I’ve been in their situation, I know what it’s like, each week they are coming out and hoping to prove everyone wrong, but we would rather just go sort our stuff out and I’m comfortable that we can deal with Wakefield if we perform well.”
