Chris Sandow has been named Super League player of the month for the second time in a row

Warrington Wolves stand-off Chris Sandow has become the first player to win back-to-back First Utility Super League player of the month awards.

The 27-year-old Australian, who joined the Wolves from Parramatta Eels last summer, made a flying start to his first full season in Super League which saw him rewarded with the February award.

And he continued to impress during March, playing a key role in lifting Warrington to the top of the table.

"It's a real privilege," said Sandow after collecting the March award. "But it goes back to my team-mates - they are doing the hard yards for me, I am just playing off the back of that.

Sandow will, however, be unable to complete the hat-trick in April as he is now sidelined with a hamstring injury.

He still does not know how long he will be absent for but he intends to be back in contention for the honour in May.

"I'll give someone a chance next month and I'll get it back a month later!" said Sandow.

"Things are looking really well, we've got a great physio here with Ben Stirling and I'm really looking forward to working with him and hopefully I'll get back sooner.

"I'm not quite sure how long I will be out for, it's up to Stirlo - it's in his hands and he's got to work his magic."
