Parramatta bring in third player with Super League experience
Former Huddersfield centre Paul Whatuira is set to seal a return to the NRL with Parramatta Eels.
New Zealand international Whatuira had said he would retire after being released at his own request from his contract with the Giants.
However Eels coach Stephen Kearney, a former team-mate, has offered the 29-year-old the chance to continue his career Down Under.
He will formally sign with Parramatta - who also hold an option to keep the player for the 2012 campaign - subject to a medical on Monday.
The Eels have already signed two players with Super League experience in the off-season.
Winger Chris Hicks was snapped up after leaving Warrington to follow on from the capture of Chris Walker, who spent a spell with Catalans Dragons.
Whatuira, who has previously won the NRL title with both Penrith and Wests Tigers, spent three years with Huddersfield. He had endured a difficult 12 months, though, including being arrested for assaulting two men last year.
