England international ready for first appearance of season
England international Luke Robinson will make his comeback from injury for engage Super League leaders Huddersfield against champions Wigan at the Galpharm Stadium on Friday.
The 26-year-old half-back or hooker has been sidelined since dislocating an elbow in England's final Four Nations game against Papua New Guinea in November.
Robinson also underwent major shoulder surgery during the close season which forced him to miss the opening five rounds of Super League, but he is ready to return against his old club.
"Robbo's fit and ready to go," said Giants coach Nathan Brown. "He's got the all-clear and he's finished three weeks of training.
"It's great news for us. He's an important player. He's definitely one of the most courageous players I've ever seen.
"I've got no problems putting him straight in. If he says he's ready, he's definitely ready."
Clean bill
The return to fitness of Robinson gives the Giants a clean bill of health and Brown is set to continue the rotation policy which has seen him use 23 players in five matches so far, including debutants Dale Ferguson, Jamie Simpson, Jamie Cording, Kyle Wood and Jon Molloy.
Prop Darrell Griffin, centre or second-rower Lee Gilmour and winger David Hodgson are all set to return after being rested for last Sunday's 50-16 rout of Bradford and Brown hinted that he may leave out winger Jermaine McGillvary despite him scoring five tries in as many appearances.
McGillvary was one of five Giants players involved in the England Knights' inaugural two-day camp at RAF Cranwell this week.
"We've got a lot of the young kids at the England camp and that's opened the door for the blokes who didn't play at the weekend," said Brown.
"We'll have to see how they are when they come back. It's good for the game what they are doing but you saw some players come out of the England camp last week and after a short week play really poor for their sides.
"We've got some depth and we're confident whoever comes in will do a good job so we might use some other people."
