Super League new boys continue squad-building
Widnes have continued their team-building for their return to Super League in 2012 with the capture of Castleford threequarter Willie Isa on a two-year deal.
The 22-year-old Auckland-born Samoa international, who played for Penrith and Melbourne before joining the Tigers on a 12-month deal, has made just nine appearances for Castleford in an injury-hit campaign so far, but scored two tries in his last match, a 34-30 win over Wakefield a fortnight ago.
Widnes coach Denis Betts said: "Willie arrives at the club with a rich pedigree.
"He's a classy outside back which is a position that all clubs are finding extremely difficult to source at the moment and, as an added bonus, he has an X-factor about him as both a player and a person."
The signing of Isa, which is subject to him receiving a visa, takes the Vikings' total of new faces so far to nine.
They have already obtained the signatures of Shaun Briscoe (Hull KR), Ben Davies, Ben Cross (both Wigan), Frank Winterstein, Lloyd White, Hep Cahill (all Crusaders), Chris Dean (Wakefield) and Patrick Ah Van (Bradford).
