Hull KR have confirmed the departure of Chris Chester six days after he was stood down as head coach.

Rovers put Willie Poching in charge for Friday's defeat to St Helens, their third in four Super League games this season.

And Chester has now left by mutual consent after 10 years with the club as player, coach and boss.

Chief executive Mike Smith said: "We would like to take the opportunity to thank Chris for all his efforts over the last year and a half, in what has often been quite trying circumstances.

"He's hugely popular around the club having been a regular in our inaugural Super League season and involved at the club for the last 10 years. We all wish him well in his future endeavours once he's had time away with his family to recharge his batteries."

Chester said: "I'm delighted to have served the club over this last ten years. I will always be grateful to Neil Hudgell, Rob Crossland and the board of directors for giving me the chance to coach this great club and I'm proud of all my achievements with the Robins.

"The fans in particular will always hold a special place in my memories and I look forward to coming back to the club once I've taken some time out with family to rest and consider my options."
